Italy · Where pizza was born

🍕Naples

Loud, layered, and unapologetic — Naples is Italy at maximum volume. Spaccanapoli slices the old town in half; underneath, Greek cisterns and WWII shelters form a parallel city. Vesuvius broods on the horizon, and pizza was invented six blocks from the port.

Safety

Requires street awareness. Petty crime and scooter-borne bag snatching happen around Stazione Centrale, Forcella, and Quartieri Spagnoli at night. The historic center by day is fine; be alert with phones and cameras.
